A good prompt describes the task clearly without exposing information that should remain private.
Start with the outcome
State what you need: a draft, outline, checklist or comparison. Define the audience and the intended use.
Add safe context and constraints
Provide relevant non-sensitive background, preferred format, tone and length. Never paste passwords or confidential customer information into an unapproved tool.
Ask for uncertainty to be identified
Request assumptions and questions where the brief is incomplete. Do not assume a model can verify a fact simply because it sounds confident.
Review the result
Check factual claims, calculations and source references independently. Edit the output for your organisation and keep human approval for external communications.
Create reusable templates
Save reviewed prompts for repeatable tasks, and revisit them when processes or AI tools change.
